A new year and all raring to go with a new wall easel, to deal with any size of canvas. New daylight lighting fitted too.
I was thrilled to have my work, 'Winter Relections' accepted for the 2024 TALP Open Art Competition in partnership with Patchings Art Centre. The pastel painting was exhibited along with other selected works at the Patchings Art Centre, Nottinghamshire from 11 July to 11 August, 2024.
The exhibition, along with all the highly commended works, will also be shown online at www.painters-online.co.uk from July 11 onwards and will be eligible for the 2024 People's Choice Awards.
I was lucky enough to get a wildcard space in the Sky Landscape Artist of the Year competition. My heat was in Llanberis in the shadow of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon). The scenery was spectacular and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. We were given four hours to paint the scene in front of us. The main competitors for the heat, painted from their 'pods'. I remained behind at the end of the wildcard section to see the judging of the pod competitors. It was fascinating and a wonderful memory I will treasure. It was lovely meeting other artists just for a chat and to talk about painting.
This is my finished painting on the left. I did about an extra hour and a half at home.
